Description: The Speech-Language Pathologist evaluates patients with speech, language, and swallowing disorders to restore, improve, or maintain the patient's optimal level of functioning, independence, and quality of life. Education, counseling, and instructing in use of devices and techniques are modalities used to improve functional communication. This is a Salaried position.
Requirements: Must be fully certified in Indiana to practice as a Speech-Language Pathologist. May work with a Temporary Permit without license in accordance with Indiana regulations. Must maintain active CPR certification. Must hold Certificate of Clinical Competence (C.C.C.) Awarded by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association or in the process of completing the Clinical Fellowship Year (C.F.Y.). Additionally, if assigned to provide services in Ohio, the SLP is required to hold a current Ohio license. Education: Masters Degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited educational program. Experience:None required. Preference may be given to individuals with advanced clinical experience or skills. The SLP must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients assigned, demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span. The SLP must possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his/her age-specific needs, and to provide the care needed as described in department policies and procedures. Successful completion of Reid Hospital general orientation, position-specific orientation skills checklist, and competency inventory required before working independently. Individual performance and competency-based skills are maintained through ongoing assessment of competence and educational activities. Written performance appraisals are completed at least annually.
