Status: Registry - This position is not guaranteed any set amount of hours, but is used on an 'as needed' basis. Candidate could be scheduled some hours during the week in addition to call-ins, vacations, etc.

Description: The Occupational Therapist evaluates each patient and provides medically prescribed occupational therapy treatments and education to patients to restore, improve, or maintain the patient's optimal level of functioning, independence, and quality of life. Occupational Therapy is provided for treatment of physical disability and psychological disorders. The Occupational Therapist also supervises Occupational Therapy Assistants. This is a Registry position. Candidate will work on an as needed basis.

Requirements: Must be fully certified in Indiana to practice as an Occupational Therapist. May work with a Temporary Permit under the stipulated supervision of an O.T. in accordance with Indiana regulations. Must maintain active NBCOT Certification. Must maintain active CPR certification. Additionally, if assigned to provide services in Ohio, the O.T. is required to hold a current Ohio license. Education: B. S., M.S., or M.A. Degree or Certification in Occupational Therapy from an AOTA-accredited educational program. Experience: none required. Preference may be given to individuals with advanced clinical experience or skills. The O.T. must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients assigned, demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his/her age-specific needs, and to provide the care needed as described in department policies and procedures. Successful completion of Reid Hospital general orientation, position-specific orientation skills checklist, and competency inventory required before working independently. Individual performance and competency-based skills are maintained through ongoing assessment of competence and educational activities. Written performance appraisals are completed at least annually.
